Day 25

What a ride! I'm still in shock that I even came to Scotland at all! Today was a blast!

We went on a highland lochs and castles tour that was great. We got to see some absolutely beautiful parts of the country.

Our first stop was Doune Castle, where 70% of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" was filmed. We didn't want to pay to go inside the castle, but the grounds were absolutely beautiful.

Our next stop was to Glenorchy Lodge for lunch. It's just this old hunting lodge in the middle of no where. Actually the food was pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised.

Then we stopped at Loch Awe and Kilchurn Castle. That castle is so dang old! It's a 15th century stronghold of the Campbell Clan and it is just ruins now. Loch Awe is the longest loch in Scotland at over 25 miles.

Inverary lies on the banks of Loch Fyne. We played around there for a while in the town, ending up with ice cream cones from one of the local shops. Chance taught us how to skip rocks on the lake. I managed to get one of my rocks to skip three times. That's monumental.

"...But me and me true love will never meet again on the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond." I got to be on the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. That was probably my favorite part of the day. It was such a pretty area and Luss, the little town surrounding it, was so quaint and charming. Chance found some perfect skipping rocks on the banks there. We held on to them for use at a later lake. Running around like crazy finally started catching up with us all and we sort of dozed off on the way back to Edinburgh.

We went back to the same place we had dinner the night before and had more 2-4-1 specials. It was pizza night. Pizza wasn't too bad. They took a while to get it out to us, so they knocked down the price. It was only about 3 pounds per person. Walking back that night was so gorgeous. It was sunset and everything just glowed.
